Dear International Citizen:
Welcome to our web site! My name is Peter "TahitiPetey" Ortmann, Founder/President of the TahitiPetey Foundation. We are a privately funded non-profit society based in Vancouver, BC, Canada, dedicated to increasing awareness of important global issues. Although there are many issues facing mankind, our primary focus is on those devastating our oceans and marine life, Climate Change and the declining world oil supplies. We will do this in a non-political, yet purpose driven manner that we believe can and will drive change. Our site is still in development, but when completed later this year, we will begin a journey of awareness together. We will showcase the importance of recycling and the need to reduce our daily use of plastic products, like shopping bags, water bottles and countless other products that find there way into our oceans and accumulate on tropical islands and coastlines worldwide, killing millions of fishes and other marine life annually. We will examine both sides of the Climate Change or Global Warming debate and its potential impacts. Climate Change is a very real issue that will change much more than our weather patterns and ocean currents; it will cause at the very least substantial damage to the world's coastline, fisheries, coral reefs and marine life. We will explore one of the biggest challenges facing mankind; the decline of cheap energy, Oil, the lifeblood of the world’s economy. Although we believe there will always be oil available, as global demand increases and Oil supplies decrease, it is expected to drive the cost per barrel to over $200 by as early as 2009. This will impact not just our personal lifestyles and budgets, but the overall global economy. We will offer links to useful informational web sites, help fund worthy awareness organizations, publications, projects and research studies, and provide natural disaster relief aid worldwide. Not as an environmental organization, but rather through front-line intelligence on both sides of every issue, because we can no longer keep our head in the sand and ignore them. We need to become more aware of all these issues so we can adapt to the new realities our future holds. At the same time, we need to still enjoy what our planet has to offer, travel and live a quality life – and we can do both. This site, once completed will share more about these issues and our other objectives.
